CustomTools Commands

This page describes the commands available in CustomTools Add-in for SOLIDWORKS. Click the command name to open the command-specific help topics.

The available commands depends on the CustomTools License level and also on the type of the active document. Read more

MenuIcon Properties View the CustomProperties of the selected document. Values of the CustomProperties are stored into the SOLIDWORKS document properties and to the CustomTools Database. Basic/Lite
MenuIcon Export CustomTools command that allows you to export whole SOLIDWORKS structures with the desired property data into an external information system.

You can also generate various kind of reports with help of the Export feature.

MenuIcon Copy Copy, move, rename or compress (to .zip) your SOLIDWORKS files. With Copy, you can also write new CustomProperty values to your SOLIDWORKS documents in batches using the Write Property Values action available. Standard
MenuIcon Comment Add comments to the documents. Basic/Lite
MenuIcon Explore Open the currently active/selected document file location in the Windows Explorer. Basic/Lite
MenuIcon 3D Bounding Box Creates a 3D bounding box feature to the model document.   Standard
MenuIcon Notes A tool used to add customized notes into drawings.     Basic/Lite
MenuIcon Data The Data command is used to customize drawings and the drawing templates allowing you to insert custom property values or a revision table into the drawing.     Basic/Lite
MenuIcon CNCTool Use the CNCTool command creates a DXF Sheet using the scale of 1:1 from the selected drawing view that can be used to cut the sheet metal part with the CNC machine.     Standard
MenuIcon CoBox The CoBox is a tool used to mark the coordinates of the sheet metal part as the notes. The coordinates can be used to cut the sheet metal part from the sheet metal plate with a cutting device.     Standard
MenuIcon OpenDrawing View and open the related drawings of the selected entity. If any entity is not selected the command refers to the open document.   Basic/Lite
MenuIcon PrintAndConvert Batch print and/or convert your SOLIDWORKS files. Basic/Lite
MenuIcon Import The Import could be used to import reference data of the SOLIDWORKS documents into the CustomTools database or, it could be used also to convert Solid Edge files to the SOLIDWORKS file formats. No open documents required
Import SOLIDWORKS Files Choose this command to open the Import tool for importing reference data of your SOLIDWORKS files into your CustomTools database. No open documents required Basic/Lite
Convert Solid Edge Files Choose this command to open the Import tool for converting your Solid Edge files into the SOLIDWORKS file formats. No open documents required Professional
MenuIcon WhereUsed View and locate where the selected entity is used. If any entity is not selected the command refers to the open document. Basic/Lite
MenuIcon Options Manage the options of CustomTools. No open documents required Basic/Lite
MenuIcon DataServer Change or define the database server connection settings or an active profile and database. No open documents required Basic/Lite
Customize Menu Define the items to be shown in the CustomTools menu in SOLIDWORKS. No open documents required Basic/Lite
