Export is a feature used to export the SOLIDWORKS document structure including the user specified data such as quantity, BOM number into an external data source. Create your own export profiles to export the desired data.
If the active document is changed when performing the Export command, the user is prompted to save the changes before the structure export. However, the Export feature does not check if some other open documents are changed and they are related to the same structure.

The export profile determines the output data structure and type for the Export operation. |
| Selection | A preview image of a component selected from the Structure view list. A preview image shown in the Selection box is specific to a configuration of a component selected from the Structure view list. |
| Filename | Displays the location and filename of the selected document. |
| Export | Exports the structure data into the external system using the export settings defined in the selected export profile. |
| Close | Closes the Export dialog box. |

NOTE: The Export button is disabled if any errors has been detected in the structure or if the export settings are not setup properly. |
| Exclude Invalid Rows | Excludes the rows having errors from the structure export.
To undo this, you have two ways: - Reselect the export profile - Select the desired row in the Structure view, clear the Exclude from BOM option and then click Apply to Files. |

| Excluded from BOM | The selected row is excluded from the BOM and it is also excluded from the output file of the structure export. | |
| Apply to Files | Applies excluding from the BOM for the selected files. |
You can exclude multiple files from the BOM at once. Multiple files have to be excluded by selecting each file separately from the Structure view and select the Excluded from BOM option. After you have set all the desired files to be excluded from the BOM, click Apply to Files to apply the excluding for the selected files.
The text color on the rows which are excluded from the BOM changes to light gray after you have applied the changes by clicking the Apply changes button.

NOTE: The most top level assembly cannot be excluded from the BOM.
Any parts cannot be excluded from the BOM if the main assembly is not open in SOLIDWORKS. |
The document structure view shows the structure of the currently selected document. In this case, the selected document means the document that was selected when you clicked the Export command.
The structure shown in the structure view represents the data that is exported with the profile selected in the Export profile box. All the fields defined in the export profiles are shown here by default but the user can affect to the shown columns by right-clicking the table's header row and then selecting or clearing the desired columns.
You can re-arrange the columns shown in the Structure view. Drag the desired column to move it to another place in the view. Re-arranging columns in the Structure view does not affect to the output of the structure export.
Export fields having an invalid value are highlighted in the Structure view with the red background color. Right-click the highlighted row and select What's Wrong to see the further description about the error occurred.

The cells in the Structure view where the search string has been found from on search are highlighted to be easier to locate the matching rows. |

Since the user needs to have a permission to manage the database in order to delete reference data from the CustomTools database, the Delete command becomes enabled only when the user has the necessary database level user rights.
The data is deleted only from the database by default, but the user is able to delete the file completely also from the hard disk by selecting the Delete associated files from hard drive as well option in the Delete Files dialog box, that appears when Delete has been clicked. |

NOTE: Commands in the File Operations menu are not enabled when using CustomTools Lite or Basic edition. CustomTools Express edition is required in order to enable the commands in File Operations menu. |
