CustomProperties

CustomProperties specifies the dynamic reference data linking between your SOLIDWORKS documents and the CustomTools Database.

For example: It is possible to add various kind of logic in controls.
It is possible to combine property values based on property values.

CustomProperty Groups and CustomProperties could be freely defined. The database Attributes are used to link the SOLIDWORKS document properties with the CustomProperties.

You can add missing database attributes using the Attributes options located in the Database Options tab or, you can type name of the new attribute in the Basic Information page of the CustomProperty Wizard while creating a new property to add missing attribute into the database automatically.

CustomProperties are organized with help of the CustomProperty Groups.

The groups also allocates CustomProperties into the clear order to ease management of them.


After importing a converted profile you can add properties to groups by selecting the property from which the next group should start before creating a new group. Then properties are automatically added to it.

Info NOTE: The values cannot be edited by the user when this option is selected.

Where to find the CustomProperties options:

The CustomProperties options are located in the CustomTools Profile Options.

Select the desired CustomTools product from the CustomTools Products box to display the further and the product specific instructions to find the CustomProperties options.

Configurations to apply the changes to by default:

The By default apply to configurations option sets the default configuration to apply the CustomProperies assigned in the CustomProperties pane to:

All Configurations All the changes in the CustomProperties are written into all existing configurations of the selected document.
Document Properties Modified CustomProperty values are written into the SOLIDWORKS document level custom properties and all the configuration specific CustomProperty values are deleted.
Property Specific Property values are written by default to the configuration(s) defined in the CustomProperty's Initial configuration setting located in the Basic Information page of the CustomProperty Wizard.
This Configuration The modified CustomProperty values are written only to the selected configuration.

Target configuration can be selected from the Selected box in the CustomProperties pane.

TIP: Change the custom properties for several configurations during the same session by selecting This configuration and changing the Selected configuration.
Specific Configuration(s) You are allowed to select the configuration, where the modified CustomProperty values are written, when exiting the CustomProperties pane.

You are able to select one or more configurations, where the properties are written regarding to needs.
