Database Options

Property value can be imported from an External data source. The Database Options page of the Property Wizard can be used to connect Properties to items in the external data source.

Where to Setup Connections

You can set up connections to your external data sources in the External Data Sources options available in ATR CustomTools Administration.

NOTE: Because of the Microsoft SQL Server security policy, the System Administrator role is required at the SQL Server level to establish connections to external data sources. Login to your SQL Server using, for example, the sa account to create a new connection from ATR CustomTools to your external data source.

Database Search Group Options

Database search group	Selects the database search group used by the custom property.
Database column	Select the column from the External data source where the Property value is retrieved. The Database column box is disabled if the property type is set as Date.

If you add or edit columns available in the data source used in the selected Database Search Group, refresh the columns in the Database Search Group by opening settings of the affected Database Search Group in the ATR CustomTools Database Search Group options. You do not have to make any modifications to the Database Search Group while refreshing the columns list.

General Options

Enable property in search	If selected, the Property can be used as a search criteria to search files in the ATR CustomTools database.
Exclude from item search condition	The custom property having this option selected cannot be used as a search criteria to search items in the External datasource. The Database Item Search is used to search item values in the external datasource and link them with the Properties.

NOTE: Several Properties on different document type Scopes could be linked with the same database Attribute. However, the Enable property in search option could be in use for only one of the Properties linked to a single Attribute.

Notes When Using Linked Properties

Other Properties using a button to search items from the same Database search group will be disabled once other Properties using the same Database search group are filled.

Disabling the buttons prevents overwriting linked properties.

The general controls are included in all pages of the Property Wizard.

Back	Return to the previous page of the Property Wizard.
Next	Proceed to the next page of the Property Wizard.
Finish	Save the property and close the Property Wizard.
