External Databases

External data sources such as ERP or MPR systems can be linked with the ATR CustomTools database. Use the External Databases options to set up connections between your ATR CustomTools database server and the external system you have.

Links defined in External Databases are server-specific connections. External Databases in ATR CustomTools are equivalent to Linked Servers in Microsoft SQL Server.

Changing connections between different databases located in the same SQL Server keeps the external database connections as they are. However, switching between different SQL Servers may cause differences in these connections depending on what external database connections are defined in each SQL Server.

NOTE: System Administrator (sa) credentials to the SQL Server are required to set up the External Databases in ATR CustomTools. You may change the login credentials of your server connection using the Database Server Properties feature if needed.

The existing data sources are listed in the External Data Sources list.
