Database Permissions

You set up ATR CustomTools database user rights using ATR CustomTools Administration for individual users and user groups.

TIP: See the guide video on YouTube: Manage database rights

Users with the Manage Users permission can change their own database-level permissions and those of other Users. To manage database-level permissions for User Groups, the Manage User Groups permission is also required.

The ATR CustomTools database always has one administrator user called Admin. The Admin user cannot be removed from the database and its user rights cannot be modified. The Admin user has all permissions on the database and all of the Profiles in the database.

  • Start ATR CustomTools Administration.
  • Log in to your ATR CustomTools database.
  • In the Database View, right-click the database name and select Permissions. The Database Rights dialog box appears.
  • In the Database Rights dialog box, you can define permissions for User Groups and/or individual Users
Manage User Groups Permission to create and modify user groups, their permissions, and users’ membership in groups.
Manage Users Permission to create and modify users but cannot modify users’ memberships in groups.
Manage Profiles Full access to all profiles in the selected ATR CustomTools database regardless of profile-specific permissions.
Import Settings Permission to Import database profile-related settings like Export Profiles, File Conversion rules, Properties, and so on.
Export Settings Permission to Export database profile-related settings like Export Profiles, File Conversion rules, Properties, and so on. ATR CustomTools profiles can be exported to an external ATR CustomTools Profile (*.ctprof) file.
Delete Design Data Permission to delete actual SOLIDWORKS files from disk through search results. Without this permission, you can only remove files from the database.
Manage Dictionaries Permission to manage the ATR CustomTools Dictionaries. Without this permission, you cannot see the Translation Options node in the ATR CustomTools Database Options. Also, management of the ATR CustomTools Dictionary Contents through the ATR CustomTools Properties pane is prohibited without this permission.
Database Administrator

The administrative permission for the selected database. This allows you to manage the ATR CustomTools Database Options, including General, Attributes, Note Templates. Translation Options can be modified without this permission if Manage Dictionaries is granted. Required for:

  • Upgrade schema of the selected database.
  • Manage External Database connections. Without this permission, the External Databases node is not shown in the Database View.

With this permission, the user can also manage scripts in the selected database regardless of the Manage Scripts permission.

System Administrator Permission to change the password of any other user in the selected ATR CustomTools database. Also required to delete the selected database from the server. All other permissions in the selected database are granted when you grant System Administrator permission.
Manage Scripts Permission to create, update, and delete add-in scripts. If you do not see the Manage Scripts node in the Database View, make sure you have at least the Manage Scripts permission granted.
NOTE: The Import and Export Settings permissions do not affect daily usage in this ATR CustomTools version.
