Profile Permissions

This help describes the user/user group permissions of the ATR CustomTools database profiles.

At least the "standard" user rights are required to use the ATR CustomTools database.

TIP: See the guide video on YouTube: Manage profile permissions
NOTE: Users are not allowed to change their own profile permissions, or the user group-specific permissions of the group they belong to.
  • Start ATR CustomTools Administration.
  • Log in to your ATR CustomTools database.
  • In the Database View, right-click the desired profile under the Profiles node and select Permissions. The Profile Rights dialog box appears.
  • In the Profile Rights dialog box, you can set Permissions of the selected Profile for Users and/or User Groups. The available permissions are described below.

The basic user of ATR CustomTools has only the permissions required to use the ATR CustomTools profiles they need. In most cases, basic users have the following rights:

Read Profile is visible to the user in the database but the user is not allowed to use it.
Use Permission to set the selected profile as active.
NOTE: Being allowed to see the profile does not allow you to set the profile as active.

Users who have the Database Administrator and/or Manage Profiles permission in the selected ATR CustomTools database have full access to all database profiles, regardless of what permissions have been granted in the Profile Rights dialog box. Administrators can also change any settings of any profile.

The user who creates the database gets owner rights automatically for the database and its default profile. The user with owner rights can specify user rights for all other users and user groups in the database.

NOTE: Owner rights = Full access to the created database and all of its profiles.

All users with the Manage Users permission are allowed to change their own user rights.

The ATR CustomTools database always has one administrator user called Admin. The Admin user cannot be removed from the database and its user rights cannot be modified. The Admin user has full control of the database and all profiles in the database.

Read Profile is visible to the user in the database but the user is not allowed to use it.
Use Permission to set the selected profile as active.
Write Permission to modify settings of the selected profile. With this permission, users can manage Batch Operation Templates and remove Unused Codes of the Sequence through the New Code dialog box in SOLIDWORKS Add-In.
Set Access Permission to maintain permissions of the selected profile for other users and/or user groups.
Delete Permission to delete the selected profile.
NOTE: The Manage Profiles permission on the database level overrides all profile level permissions above while it is granted for the user. Users with the Manage Profiles permission on the selected database also have full access to all profiles in that database.
