SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings

With the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings you can integrate your SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault with your CUSTOMTOOLS Database. Integrating these two systems to gether, makes you able to work with CUSTOMTOOLS in association to the SOLIDWORKS PDM system.


Where to find the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings options:

The SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings options are located in the CUSTOMTOOLS Profile Options.

Select the desired CUSTOMTOOLS product from the CUSTOMTOOLS Products box to display the further and the product specific instructions to find the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings options.

Setting up the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault integration:

Your SOLIDWORKS PDM Vaults appear as tabs into the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings options in CUSTOMTOOLS. The selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault refers in this help page to the tab that is currently active in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings options.

Disable integration to this vault To disable integration between the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault and your CUSTOMTOOLS database, select the Disable integration to this vault option.
Don't duplicate references to CT DB Select this option to avoid duplicate references to exist simultaneously in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault database and, in your CUSTOMTOOLS database. With this option selected, the file references are only stored in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault database and the duplicate references are not written to the CUSTOMTOOLS database.
Use serials The Serial Numbers available in selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault. In the Use serials box you can select the PDM Vault Serial Numbers that are allowed to use with the CUSTOMTOOLS features. The Serial Numbers available maintained in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault could be used in CUSTOMTOOLS to generate the document codes using the GetCode button function available for the Properties. The SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault Serial Numbers could be used also in the CUSTOMTOOLS Projects to get codes to the documents.

Code for the document is assigned using the CUSTOMTOOLS New Code dialog box. The SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault Serial Numbers appears in the Sequence box in the New Code dialog box with Serial Number name, and the vault name included in brackets.

Example: The SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault called Design_Vault contains a Serial Number called SN_PDM. The PDM vault's Serial Number appears in the CUSTOMTOOLS New Code dialog box as SN_PDM (Design_Vault).

Serial Numbers that have been renamed in the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault or, that are deleted from the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault through the SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration appears in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings in CUSTOMTOOLS with the (Invalid) suffix in their names. Any Serial Number with the (Invalid) suffix in the Use serials box cannot be used.



Conversions:

Use the File handling options according to the selected Conversions options to setup handling options of the converted files. Using the File handling options you can determine handling of the converted file that already exist in the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault.

The available Conversions tabs in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings depends on the File Conversion rules you have in your CUSTOMTOOLS Profile. When you create a new File Conversion rule in your CUSTOMTOOLS Profile, you need to save changes of the CUSTOMTOOLS Profile Options before the new File Conversion rule appears as a tab in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Settings options.

Checking in the file To disable integration between the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault and your CUSTOMTOOLS database, select the Disable integration to this vault option.
Add custom reference from source file to converted document Select the Add custom reference from source file to converted document option to add a reference from the source file to the output file of the Conversion task.

Check-In Options

Check-in as new version Check-in the converted file as a new version into the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault. Select this option to always create a new version of the converted file into the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault wihtout removing the existing instances.
Overwrite current version Overwrite the existing instance of the converted file in the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault. Select this option to only keep the most recently converted version of the converted file in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault.
Skip if target file exist Ignore the check-in if the target file already exist in the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault. In case this option is selected and the converted file already exist in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault, the check-in action is ignored so and the existing file is kept intact in the vault.


Mapped Properties:

The Mapped properties options allows you to associate your document properties located in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault with the CUSTOMTOOLS Properties.

Source property CUSTOMTOOLS Property to associate with the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault property selected in the Target variable box. Scope of the CUSTOMTOOLS Properies available in the Source property box depends on the document types handled by the selected Conversion.

Example: If the selected Conversion is set up to handle only the SOLIDWORKS Drawing documents, only the CUSTOMTOOLS Drawing Properties are available in the Source property box.
Target variable Target variable in the selected SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault to associate the CUSTOMTOOLS Property selected in the Source property box with.
Add Adds the association between the properties selected in the Source property and Target variable box.
Remove Removes the selected property association.
