CUSTOMTOOLS Licensing

CUSTOMTOOLS licensing supports Network- and Standalone license. The Standalone license does not require network connection while the Network license requests the license key data from the license server on each startup of a CUSTOMTOOLS product (For example each time you start SOLIDWORKS while the CUSTOMTOOLS Add-in is set as active add-in in SOLIDWORKS).

Information included in a license:

The product name
The product version
Product version which license is for
The total amount of licenses
The date when license expires

NOTE: When your license expires, you need to purchase a new one or extend the current one in order to be able to continue using CUSTOMTOOLS.

Each workstation and license are attached together.

Licenses and the different CUSTOMTOOLS major versions:

Different major versions of CUSTOMTOOLS could be used by the same license but, every activation of the license reserves one license from your license pool no matter which major version of CUSTOMTOOLS is installed in the workstation.

Example:

Let's assume that the environment have two (2) standalone licenses. Those two licenses are activated by workstations A (CUSTOMTOOLS 2012) and B (CUSTOMTOOLS 2013). Then, environment gets a new workstation C that has CUSTOMTOOLS 2013 installed.

Workstation C (CUSTOMTOOLS 2013) cannot activate its CUSTOMTOOLS license because all licenses from the pool of two standalone licenses are already activated and in use by workstations A and B.

When to Deactivate CUSTOMTOOLS License:

Usually you should not have to consider deactivating the CUSTOMTOOLS license. However, in the following case, the license have to be deactivated by the user:

When you are about to change your computer or the license server to another one
When you are about to uninstall the CUSTOMTOOLS

When to Re-Activate CUSTOMTOOLS License:

In the following case, the CUSTOMTOOLS license should be re-activated:

When your CUSTOMTOOLS license level is changed (e.g. CUSTOMTOOLS Basic --> CUSTOMTOOLS Professional)
When you upgared the CUSTOMTOOLS major version (to update the CT version information in the licensing service)

If you have a CUSTOMTOOLS Network License in use, you need to re-activate the license in the license server also when the amount of CT product licenses is changed (e.g. count of the CUSTOMTOOLS Professional for SOLIDWORKS licenses is changed from 1 to 5) to update the information in the server about how many licenses for the specific product could be provided to the clients requesting.
