Setup the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In for SOLIDWORKS PDM

With the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In, you can execute ATR CustomTools Tasks such as Batch Operations and structure Export from your SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault. The ATR CustomTools Task Add-In for SOLIDWORKS PDM is included in all license levels, but feature-specific limitations still apply to tasks executed by the Task Add-In.

This page explains how to set up the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In in your SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault.

NOTE: The Can administrate add-ins permission is required for the SOLIDWORKS PDM User to set up the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault. Please refer to SOLIDWORKS PDM Documentation or contact your administrator for more information about administrative permissions.

First, launch SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration and log in to your SOLIDWORKS PDM Vault.

  • Click Start, SOLIDWORKS PDM, Administration.
  • Click the arrow next to your PDM Vault or double-click your vault's name in the tree view. The login dialog appears.
  • Provide credentials for a user with proper permissions and click Login. The vault contents expand in the tree view after a successful login.

Once logged in, proceed to the instructions below to Setup the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In in your vault.

TIP: If you have already set up the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In and want to upgrade it, follow the instructions below to Upgrade the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In in your vault.
  • In the vault tree, right-click Add-Ins and select New Add-In. The Select Files for the Add-in dialog appears.
  • Locate the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In folder in your installation path. Select all DLL files in the folder and click Open. The Properties dialog appears.
  • Click Setup at the bottom left. The ATR CustomTools Database Connection dialog appears.
    • Database name: Sets the ATR CustomTools database the Task Add-In will use.
    • Profile: Determines the ATR CustomTools Profile for the Task profiles. Batch Operation and Export profiles are selected from here.
    If no options are available in the Database name and Profile boxes, ensure you have the ATR CustomTools Server Properties set up with valid credentials.
  • Click OK. The CTTaskAddin - 210 (ATR Soft Oy) child node appears under Add-ins in your vault tree.
TIP: The number at the end of the CTTaskAddin name refers to the ATR CustomTools version. For example, 230 means the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In is for the 2023 SP0 version.

The ATR CustomTools Task Add-In version must match the rest of your ATR CustomTools environment. Follow these steps to upgrade the Task Add-In while logged in to your vault:

  • In the vault tree, right-click CTTaskAddin - 210 (ATR Soft Oy) and select Open or double-click it. The Properties dialog appears.
  • Click Files to view associated files.
  • Click Add Files. The Select Files for the Add-in dialog appears.
  • Locate the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In folder in your installation path. Select all DLL files and click Open.
  • Tell all other SOLIDWORKS PDM users to restart their computers to apply the upgrade.
NOTE: Once the ATR CustomTools Task Add-In is upgraded, changes apply to all SOLIDWORKS PDM users in your environment. All client workstations must be restarted for changes to take effect.
