Export Profile Wizard

The CUSTOMTOOLS Export Profile Wizard is a simplified tool for creating a CUSTOMTOOLS Export Profile. The created profile can be used to produce a simple and customizable SOLIDWORKS BOM Excel Report.

The wizard creates a simplified starting point for an Excel Report profile, which you can further modify via CUSTOMTOOLS Options, in the more advanced and powerful settings of Export Profile Editor. In the editor, you can also define other type of export handlers: XSL/Script, Cloud Connected, Odoo ERP or Dynamics NAV integration.

1. Selecting CUSTOMTOOLS Export command automatically launches the Export Profile Wizard if:

2. If there are some Export profiles, the Export button in the CUSTOMTOOLS Command Manager tab will have <Create New Export Profile> item for launching the wizard. Enable Wizard in Command Manager option rules the visibility of this item.

3. Launch Wizard... button in Export Profiles Options.

NOTE: If the logged-in user doesn't have Write permissions to currently active CUSTOMTOOLS Profile, Export Profile Wizard is not available.

Select the structure type to export. Parts only type usually works well for packing lists, purchase orders or similar listings, where as Full structure is often used during the assembly or manufacturing process.

Parts only Will list all part components that are not Excluded from BOM. Also assembly components will be listed, if they have Hide option selected for Child component display when used as a subassembly setting in their Configuration Properties. This is the same behavior as in SOLIDWORKS BOMs. Quantities shown in this BOM Type are total quantities in respect to the main assembly.

Full structure Will list all non-suppressed components that are not Excluded from BOM. Child component display when used as a subassembly setting is respected by default. The report uses a small set of Excel columns to mimic the design's structure indentation with Part Number.

Include cut list items Will list also cut list items. This option is available only if Full structure is selected.

Select configurations to export.

Active/Referenced Configuration Exported configuration is either the active configuration of the currently open design, or the referenced configuration of the exported component. The report will be an Excel document with a single sheet.

All configurations Each configuration structure is exported to a separate Excel sheet of the same document.

This page is only visible if the current CUSTOMTOOLS Profile has Model Properties.

To export CUSTOMTOOLS Properties from your models, you can drag & drop items from the CUSTOMTOOLS Attributes listing to the Exported Columns listing.

Three compulsory fields are automatically added. These fields cannot be removed with the wizard.

Part Number SOLIDWORKS Part Number. By default it is the Document Name but it can be also configured to be Configuration Name or User Specified Name at the design document's Configuration Properties. The wizard locks this as the first column.

Material Quantity For parts and assemblies, the material quantity is the reference count in the parent assembly multiplied by possible BOM quantity factor defined in the component's properties. Material Quantity is the reference count if the BOM quantity factor is not defined.
For Weldment cut list items, the material quantity is the total length value of the cut list item. For other cut list item types it is the reference count.

Preview Preview picture of the component embedded to the Excel column. Part preview is used for cut list items by default. The wizard locks this as the last column.
