File Operations

File Operation options contain settings used to handle the saving operations.


Where to find the File Operation options:

The File Operation options are located in the CUSTOMTOOLS User Options.

Select the desired CUSTOMTOOLS product from the CUSTOMTOOLS Products box to display the further and the product specific instructions to find the File Operation options.

File operation options:

Save drawings automatically Enable/Disable the automatic saving of the drawing documents. When this option is selected, the drawings are saved automatically based on the Projects options when performing the Save command. If the specific path for the drawings is not defined in the Projects options, the drawing is saved into the same folder where its referenced model is located at.
Suggest copying of referencing drawings when a model is saved as or renamed Determines whether or not to prompt the user to copy the drawings referenced to the model that is being saved as or renamed. This option is selected by default so the Copy Referenced Drawings dialog box appear while saving as or renaming a part or an assembly that have related drawings. Clear selection of this option to avoid the Copy Referenced Drawigns dialog box to appear on the operations mentioned above.


Popup the Properties dialog box:

Show when saving an existing file as new file While having this option selected, the Properties dialog box appear while performing the SOLIDWORKS Save As command against an existing document.
Don't show when saving model for the first time Skip the CUSTOMTOOLS Properties dialog box while saving the new SOLIDWORKS document for the very first time.

When this option is selected and a new file is being saved for the first time, just the SOLIDWORKS Save As dialog box appear for determining the target path and filename for the new SOLIDWORKS file. The filename suggested in the Save As dialog box is still based Project options.
Don't show when saving a virtual component An option to skip the CUSTOMTOOLS Properties dialog box while saving a virtual component.

When this option is selected and you are saving a virtual component, the Properties dialog box does not appear.


Open created document when performing Save As Copy Determines whether or not to open the copied document after the Save As Copy operation or will the program prompt the user.
Never Never open the copied document.
Always Always open the copied document.
Prompt The user is promted whether or not to open the copied document. (Default)
