Bend Sheet Options

The Bend Sheet options are used to setup the CUSTOMTOOLS Bend Sheet feature.


Where to find the Bend Sheet options:

The Bend Sheet options are located in the CUSTOMTOOLS Profile Options.

Select the desired CUSTOMTOOLS product from the CUSTOMTOOLS Products box to display the further and the product specific instructions to find the Bend Sheet options.

Bend Sheet options:

New created sheet name Defines the name for the new sheet added to the active drawing by the Bend Sheet feature.
Note template to use Select a note template to insert notes based on, to the drawing views generated by the Bend Sheet feature. You can maintain your note templates in the Note Templates options available in the CUSTOMTOOLS Database Options.


Sheet format/size to use:

Setup the SOLIDWORKS Sheet Format to be used on the new drawing sheet added by the Bend Sheet feature.

Same as in the first sheet Select this option to use the same sheet format in the Bend Sheet as what is being used in the drawing's first sheet. If the sheet format of the drawing's first sheet cannot be found, you can choose anohter sheet format to use on the Bend Sheet.
Select based on first sheet Select this option to define the sheet format mappings for the Bend Sheet feature. With this option selected, the sheet format mappings control the sheet format used in the Bend Sheet created with the Bend Sheet feature.

Click the ThreeDots button to open the Bend Sheet: Sheet Format Mapping dialog box. Use the Bend Sheet: Sheet Format Mapping dialog box to setup the necessary sheet format mappings.
Standard Select a standard sheet size to be used for creating the bend sheet. To use customized dimensions of the sheet created, select the Used Defined option from the Standard box and then define the desired sheet dimensions using the Width and Height boxes associated to the Standard box.

  • Width (mm). Defines the width for the Used Defined paper size in millimeters.
  • Height (mm). Defines the height for the Used Defined paper size in millimeters.
Custom Select a custom sheet format to be used in the Bending sheet created. Click the OpenFile button to open an existing sheet format file. By default, the Open dialog box appears with the default Sheet Formats File Location folder open.

The default file location of the SOLIDWORKS Sheet Formats is defined in the SOLIDWORKS - File Locations options.
Show sheet format Select the Show sheet format option to show the sheet format selected, in the bend sheet created. When this option is not selected, the drawing sheet created is blank without any views.
Prompt when not run as a task Select the Prompt when not run as a task option to get prompted to select the sheet format using the SOLIDWORKS Sheet Format/Size dialog box while creating the bend sheet into a drawing.


Bend line options:

Use the Bend line options to determine whether to show notes associated to the bend lines in the drawing sheets created to the SOLIDWORKS drawing by the CUSTOMTOOLS Bend Sheet feature. With the Bend line options, you can also customize the note inserted in association to the bend lines shown in the drawing sheet created.

Show bend notes The Show bend notes option determines whether or not to notes associated to the bend lines in the drawing sheet created by the Bend Sheet. Select this option and define the note format in the Bend line format box to add customized notes associated to the bend lines. Clear selection of the Show bend notes option if you do not want to add notes associated to the bend lines.
Bend note format Use the Bend note format box to define format for the note added in association to the bend lines shown in the SOLIDWORKS drawing sheet created by the Bend Sheet.

To apply changes of the Bend note format to your existing drawing sheets, execute the CUSTOMTOOLS Bend Sheet command against the desired drawings again and select the Overwrite option when prompted for an action to perform against the existing drawing sheet created by the CUSTOMTOOLS Bend Sheet.

Click the > button associated to the Bend line format box to add pre-defined attributes to the note:

Bend Direction Add direction of a bend to the bend note.
Supplementary Angle Add supplementary angle of a bend to the bend note.
Complementary Angle Add complementary angle of a bend to the bend note.
Bend Radius Add radius of a bend to the bend note.
Bend Order Add the bending order number of a bend to the bend note.
Bend Allowance Add bend allowance length of a bend to the bend note.
Info By definition, the bend allowance is the arc length of the bend as measured along the neutral axis of the material.


When Run As a Task:

Using the When Run As a Task options, you can determine how the Bend Sheet feature is executed in association with the CUSTOMTOOLS Batch Operations. If the Bend Sheet feature is being executed against the drawings on the CUSTOMTOOLS batch operation, a new sheet with a name defined in the New created sheet name box is added to the drawings.

Info NOTE: Only the SOLIDWORKS drawings referenced by the SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal parts are processed by the Bend Sheet feature on the batch operations.
Save drawing after sheet is added Determines whether or not the SOLIDWORKS drawings are saved during the batch operations. Select this option to save changes to the SOLIDWORKS drawings when the Bend Sheet feature is executed as a task against the drawings during the CUSTOMTOOLS batch operation.
Print profile to select by default Choose a CUSTOMTOOLS Batch Print Profile which you want to be selected automatically when the Create Bend Sheet task is selected in the Tasks tab in the Batch Operation dialog box.
File conversion rule to select by default Choose a CUSTOMTOOLS File Conversion rule which you want to be selected automatically when the Create Bend Sheet task is selected in the Tasks tab in the Batch Operation dialog box.
