The Projects node in the CUSTOMTOOLS Profile Options is used to define the project specific file naming rules and the default values for the Properties.

The desired project specific default values can be loaded to the Properties by clicking the LoadDefault button in the Properties pane. See the Properties pane help for the further help.

In case you are working with an old file that does not belong to any project, the proposed default values for the Properties are based on the most recently used project.

Info NOTE: The General project could not be removed.

The existing projects are listed in a tree view. The project names in the tree view are formatted by the following way:

Project number : Project name, for example a project which name is Project1 and the project number is P1, is shown in the tree view as P1 : Project1.



Where to find the project options:

The Project options are located in the CUSTOMTOOLS Profile Options.

Select the desired CUSTOMTOOLS product from the CUSTOMTOOLS Products box to display the further and the product specific instructions to find the Project options.

CUSTOMTOOLS Products:


Basic controls:

Add Create a new project. The existing projects are added into the tree stucture once they are created.
Edit Edits the selected project.
Delete Removes the selected project.

NOTE: The General project cannot be removed from any profile.


Settings:

The Settings group is used to define the default file naming rules used by the project. Each project can have the specific rules for the file naming. If you have not added any projects, the filenaming rules are based on the General project that belongs to all profiles by default.

You can use the Windows environment variables to define the target path for the saved files. The percent signs (%) in the both ends of the folder name means that the folder has been defined as the local environment variable.

For Example: %TEMP% saves the files into the temporary folder of the user which is currently logged into the Windows.



Model filenames:

Property used as filename Select the Property used to generate the file name.
Property used as part filename Select this option to generate the specific file names for the part documents based on the Property selected in the Property used as part filename box.
Save folder Defines the default destination path for parts and assemblies. Leave the Save folder box empty to define the destination path for each model separately while saving.

If the specified folder does not already exist, the folder is automatically created on the save operation.
Info TIP: Click the browse button associated to the Save folder box to use the Browse For Folder dialog box to select the desired target folder to save the model documents (parts and assemblies) in.

Allow saving in different location and/or different filename While this option is selected, the SOLIDWORKS Save As dialog box appear on the file save operation to allow you to modify the destination folder and/or file name manually. While this option is not selected, the files assigned to a project are always saved into the project save path defined in the Save folder box.

In case you are about to save a new file assigned to a project which does not have the Allow saving in different location and/or different filename option selected and a file with the same name does already exist in the project save folder, you get prompted to choose whether you want to overwrite the existing file or not.
Demand changing of filename when value of Property used as filename is changed If the value of the Property used to generate the file name has been modified, then the Filename Changed dialog box appears.
Ignore files located in defined Design Library folders The file naming rules does not apply to the files stored into folders which are assigned to the Design Library.


Drawing filenames:

Name drawings according to Select how the name of the drawing is generated.
Property value of drawing Uses a Property value defined for the drawing to generate the file name. Select this option to select the Property scoped to drawings (Drawing Properties) from the Property box.
Property value of referenced model Uses a Property value defined for the model (part and assembly) to generate the file name. Select this option to select the Property scoped to models, parts or assemblies (Model Properties) from the Property box.
Referenced Model filename Select this option to generate the drawing filename based on the model referring to the drawing.

Property Select the desired Property you want to use as the drawing file name. The Property box is available when you have selected the Property value of drawing or Property value of referenced model option from the Name drawings according to box.
Save folder for drawings Defines the default destination folder for the drawings. Leave the Save folder for drawings box empty to save the drawings into the same folder with their referring models.

If the specified folder does not already exist, the folder is automatically created on the save operation.
Info TIP: Click the browse button associated to the Save folder for drawings box to use the Browse For Folder dialog box to select the desired target folder to save the drawing documents in.


Default values for parts

Defines default Property values for the SOLIDWORKS parts which belong to the project.

The parts can have the pre-defined values for Properties. For example, the sequences could be pre-selected for the Properties which are using the GetCode function.

When you pre-select the sequence to be used to generate the document code, the selected sequence name appears into the related Property box inside the [square brackets].

When you select the default sequence to be used to generate the document code, the currently used sequence is selected by default in the New Code dialog box.



Default values for assemblies

Defines default Property values for the SOLIDWORKS assemblies which belong to the project.

The assemblies can have the pre-defined values for Properties. For example, the sequences could be pre-selected for the Properties which are using the GetCode function.

When you pre-select the sequence to be used to generate the document code, the selected sequence name appears into the related Property box inside the [square brackets].

When you select the default sequence to be used to generate the document code, the currently used sequence is selected by default in the New Code dialog box.
